Can't wait to come back ## Kimberly — October 2021 — 1★ We came to this cabin to get away for our anniversary - 7 years since we had been anywhere without our kids. We vacated the property after 1 hour. The cabin was filthy inside and out. After having to wade thru dog feces all over, we got inside. This cabin is not new as described, either. Every counter surface was dirty, the floors were filthy, sheets looked unchanged, sink had a fingernail on it, toilet had hair on it, thick dust everywhere. shower was gross. Dead bugs everywhere. We contacted the property owner (very kind and understanding) and after referring us to the property manager, we agreed to make due for the evening (not even any disinfectant in the house to wipe down anything) and have the cleaner come back in the morning to address the issues (versus vacating the property). It was either that, or drive over 2 hours straight back home. We decided to stay. Then the real nightmare began. There were very large wasps (we think paper wasps) on the windows. After trying to use some Raid we found, We soon discovered we were outnumbered. Dozens of them started pouring in from an upper window frame near the ceiling. We couldn't find them off and had to get our dogs and belongings out as fast as possible. We have yet to hear from "john"(who is very impersonal and downright rude, property manager) despite several messages after the wasp situation and regarding a refund. For now we wait to see how we can get our $ back. This place needs a lot of work and new staff! It's a shame because the owner Robert was very nice and the cabin itself and property are gorgeous! ## Morgan P. — Detroit, Michigan — October 2021 — 5★ This property was a perfect getaway! The home is far off the road and secluded enough to really relax and enjoy the incredible views. Check in and outs were both very easy with no problems at all! We took our dogs, they had room to run and play that they don’t get in the city. We loved the walking paths, they are perfectly planned and allowed for morning and evening walks with great views of the sunsets and sunrises. This is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. ## Troy — September 2021 — 5★ If you are looking for the most amazing place to get away from it all this is it! The cabin is absolutely gorgeous and the surroundings are beautiful. It was the most amazing weekend and we couldn’t have asked for anything better!! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to get away to the woods for a weekend it will absolutely blow your mind. I would give this place 10 stars if I could it was seriously that amazing. ## Rachel — September 2021 — 4★ We enjoyed our stay at this cabin! It's very quiet and a really nice place. There is everything you need to cook, relax on the porch, and spend time with whoever you're with. The trails behind the house are a cool touch and we liked the porch and yard a lot. Inside it was really nice too but we weren't fans of the bugs allowed to get into the house since some of them were wasps. The owner was super nice and offered to send someone out to exterminate though, which we declined so we could have the private stay we were hoping for. I'm sure the owner is planning on fixing that soon so I wouldn't let that keep you from coming but I did want to be honest as to why I gave this cabin 4 instead of 5 stars. ## Robert — September 2021 — 2★ This property is not as described. It's not a "Beautiful New Log Cabin". It's several years old, has hard water, wasn't clean like a new home, has older furniture and yellow jacket bees in the house. I killed two right above the bed the last night we stayed. The solitude is nice but not worth the money. And no fire pit as described. > **Response from ROAM:** Robert, I'm sorry you did not enjoy our home. Negative reviews are always difficult to respond to, but I'll try to go point by point without sounding too defensive. You mentioned that the home is "several years old", which you defined as "maybe four of five years" in a private message. I think we probably have different definitions of "new" and it would be an argument of semantics to respond any further. Yes, the home is a few years old, and construction was not completed last week. I will say, that as of this date, it's scheduled for a power wash and exterior cleaning, which does need to occur every few years on a log home. The home has well water, for those used to conditioned, city water, it might be "hard". It's an unfortunate part of being in the country, but there are so many other reasons to get out of the city that we find ourselves able to deal with it. There are two types of furniture in the home, some is barely a year old, and some is rustic / antique. I guess the rustic or antique furniture could certainly be considered "older" furniture, but the coach, love seat, tables, chairs, guest room double bed, mattresses, and other items are all "new." There is also absolutely a fire pit, I'm sorry you weren't able to enjoy it. If you had messaged us at any time during your stay I would have happily given you the location. It requires a little bit of exploring as it's just up the hill to the south side of the home about 75 to 100 feet away. This home is not for everyone. The only complaints we ever receive are from guests that travel from cities and expect hotel style accommodations from a very rural property. The property is remote, you may encounter animals, bugs, well water (gasp!), and if a guest is expecting a log home, devoid of all the natural surroundings, they should not book. Now, if you're looking to see eagles fly through the sky, deer eat the apples that fall from the trees in the front yard, hear the crickets and the bull frogs at night while you star gaze and some of the best night views in the whole state, you'll have a great experience. I suspect the former is the case for you, as you asked if you should bring a "bug fogger" in the only message you sent to us. Lastly, you mentioned it's not worth the money. Most weeknights are under 100.00 dollars for an entire home with 3 beds, 20 acres, and all the amenities. The fire pit area for an evening fire under the stars was amazing. Take your lawn chairs. We saw some wild turkeys roosting in the tree nearby. We went to Crittenden County Park for the afternoon.
